FENG SHUI VARIANTS
Many Feng Shui variants have emerged over the years. One of the oldest variants is undoubtedly the form school of Classical Feng Shui. Although these basic principles are still assumed in modern Chinese buildings, more and more other principles are also used, such as the “Eight places” method and the Flying Stars method. Since all these methods are quite complicated, we will stick to the general basic rules that recur in every movement.
FENG SHUI – THE BASIS
feng shui chi
Qi, better known as Chi, plays a major role in every Feng Shui variant. This is a dynamic energy flow that must run through the home. The goal of furnishing is to arrange the living environment in such a way that the Chi can flow through the house as well as possible. The term Chi is also used to describe the quality of a space utilizing negative, positive, toxic, and prosperous energy.
The two opposing forces Yin and Yang are also fixed values in Feng Shui and other Asian philosophical systems. These opposing forces complement each other perfectly. Just think of hot and cold, man and woman, light and dark or dry and damp. To attract good health and happiness, these opposing forces must be in harmony and balance!
feng shui elements
The five elements of water, fire, earth, metal, and wood are also important points in a Feng Shui establishment. These elements must merge smoothly and together form a constructive cycle. In bad combinations, these elements can also weaken each other. This is then referred to as a destructive cycle.
FENG SHUI INTERIOR: GENERAL RULES
In a Feng Shui interior, it is important to keep enough space free so that there is room for new energy. Also, keep the doors free so that the Chi can flow through the house. These general rules apply to the entire home.
FURNISHING ROOMS ACCORDING TO FENG SHUI
The way of classification will also be different per room according to the Feng Shui teaching. Depending on the function of the room and the location:
THE LIVING ROOM
Family life is central to the living room. You will receive friends and family and will also relax there. According to Feng Shui leather, the living room is preferably located in the front part of the house and best consists of a square or rectangular room. L-shaped rooms can give you rectangular characters by shielding parts with curtains, cupboards, or room dividers.
The seats and chairs preferably face each other in a square or rectangular shape. Make sure that there is always sufficient circulation space so that the Chi can flow freely. You can amplify the yang energy in the room by placing bright general lighting. Since family life is central, it is also advisable to emphasize this by, for example, hanging a large family portrait in a central location in the room.
The bedroom is a private affair where you spend a lot of time. It is a multifunctional space where you can sleep, read books, and relax. According to Feng Shui rules, just like the living room, the bed must be placed with a view of the door. When placing mirrors, you should also make sure that the bed is not reflected.
Colors are also very important for positive energy in the bedroom. Large wall surfaces can be covered with curtains and soft colors such as white, pink, light green, and soft blues. Try to ban electronic devices from the bedroom as this can interfere with the flow of the Chi. If you still want to place electronic equipment, you can always hide it at night by placing it in a cupboard or hiding behind a curtain.
